Coins.ph, announced a ₱3 million donation to Angat Pinas to support immediate relief operations for families affected by the powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck southern Mindanao recently.
The severe and high-impact zones encompass over 1.4 million residents across critically hit communities, with General Santos City (GenSan) and Maasim sustaining severe damage at Intensity 7 to 8, alongside high-impact tremors logged across Alabel and the wider Sarangani area.
The ₱3 million funding is being deployed directly to Angat Pinas to ensure the rapid procurement and dissemination of basic survival necessities on the ground. Unified relief operations are actively prioritizing food packages and clean drinking water for displaced families in the hardest-hit evacuation sectors.
Additionally, the initiative is intentionally dedicating resources to care for affected animals, such as displaced cats and dogs, which are frequently overlooked during major humanitarian crises.
“In the wake of the recent devastating earthquake, our priority at Coins.ph has been simply to empower the responders who are delivering hope directly to Mindanao,” said Wei Zhou, Chief Executive Officer of Coins.ph. “This support is vital because these ongoing relief operations provide immediate, practical aid directly to displaced families where it is needed most. For us, this is about standing in genuine solidarity with the communities we serve and ensuring that critical lifelines remain fully funded as they rebuild and recover.”
“In times of disaster, every act of solidarity matters,” said Raffy Magno, Executive Director of Angat Pinas. “We are grateful to Coins.ph for standing with earthquake-affected communities in Mindanao and helping ensure that timely assistance reaches areas that need it most.”
The joint emergency distribution pipeline is scaling up immediately in coordination with local field responders in General Santos City and surrounding municipalities. Coins.ph urges its millions of users to join the relief campaign to accelerate the flow of food and water to affected communities.
To support the ongoing relief efforts, individuals can contribute directly through Angat Pinas’s official donation channels.
